La Belle Vue

Video- installation:
shown in the gallery 66East, Amsterdam.

The visitor descends into a dark, damp cellar where a video is projected. In the video, the infrared light of the camera leads the viewer down into an other shadowy, mysterious cellar. After passing the entrance door the site opens to a corridor leading to various assigned spaces. Strange tubes and white cardboard boxes can be perceived through the wooden boards of these spaces. A masculine voices recites suggestive French wine vocabulary, giving an acoustic orientation, but wine yard´s names are never mentioned. The describing words underline the suspended atmosphere. Desire, provoked by the sensual almost erotic language, used to describe wines, to make a commercial product "sexy", appears out of the context and remains unsatisfied by the visual input.
